Everyone knows that to stay fit, we must eat healthier foods. With so many choices out there, it is hard to know which foods are the best. Below are some foods that will help you maintain optimum health.

Coconuts are full of carbohydrates and fats that the body needs to stay healthy. The oil inside the coconut can actually lower the risk of heart disease. Coconut oil aids the immune system and also helps fight infections from bacteria and viruses.

Saltwater fish are a great source of protein for the body. Fish feed on good minerals such as iodine, and they contain a good amount of omega-3. Omega-3 is an essential fatty acid that we need for our bodies, and it helps the body reduce inflammations.

Kelp is great for the body and is full of potassium. Kelp is large seaweed that also has a good amount of magnesium, iodine and other important minerals. Kelp also provides the body with EPA, another type of omega-3.

Mushrooms are a versatile food that you can add to your salads, stews and soups. Mushrooms give the body plenty of iron and protein as well as many other good nutrients. Eating mushrooms boosts the immunity system and helps prevent infections and diseases. The best mushrooms to buy are the ones grown organically.

Every person on Earth requires something to be happy. Some need material things, such as a cool car and a nice house to live in. Others could care less about possessions and instead hunger for adventure and romance. No matter what makes you happy, there is one requirement that we all share: The need for a healthy diet.

There is much debate over what foods are the healthiest, but there are certain nutritional principles that can be followed by everyone no matter what the specifics of their diet. The most important of those principles is balance. No one can be healthy when eating only one type of food. The more variety you get in your diet, the more nutrients you will get. Another important principle is to stick to nutrient-dense foods that contain a lot of antioxidants, such as leafy greens, fruits, vegetables and berries. Lastly, be sure to avoid processed and microwaveable foods, as they contain fillers and chemicals that can weaken your immune system.

If you try to live without feeding your body healthy foods, you will eventually grow weak, depressed and even sick. Eating right strengthens your body, helping you feel happier, healthier and stronger every day.

When you’re healthier, you’re happier. When you’re happier, you’re healthier. It works both ways and there are scientific studies to back that up.

To stay healthy, you not only have to exercise, but you have to eat well, too. But that’s not always as easy as it sounds. While running through the drive-thru or settling for quick, less healthy meals is often the easiest choice for people with busy schedules, it’s not usually the best. Just the other day, I had to work in the morning, take my son to baseball practice in the afternoon and just when I was planning on cooking dinner, I got stuck talking to a customer service rep from www.satellitetv-hq.com. Needless to say, the family was hungry and McDonalds was the practical choice. However, there are ways to eat food fast without eating fast food. Here are some ways that you can eat healthy with a busy schedule:

1. It won’t change overnight. Set realistic goals and make simple, practical changes to your diet at a slow, manageable pace.

2. Multivitamin supplements can be a good insurance for days when you’re too busy to eat all three meals. However, this can be a slippery slope as you shouldn’t count on vitamins as a crutch for nutrition. Real food is always a priority.

3. Fruit is always a good on-the-go snack. All fruits are rich in nutrients, particularly strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, which are all loaded with vitamins, fiber, antioxidants and other good stuff.

4. When buying snacks and other foods, you should always purchase the least-processed form.

5. Don’t skip breakfast. This slows down your metabolism and can cause you to be extra hungry later in the day.

“You are what you eat”. We have all heard that saying and know the tremendous effect that food has on our health, emotions, and overall well-being. A diet filled with wholesome foods that are high in nutritional value will make us feel healthy and happy. There are also food that are very detrimental to our health and can leave us feeling moody and uncomfortable. Here are some of the most damaging foods that we should avoid:

Sugars
Sugar tastes and feel so good, yet, it can be so damaging to our bodies. We all know that sugar causes tooth decay and diabetes. What most of us don’t know is that sugar causes inflammation in our bodies that can lead to chronic and metabolic diseases. Sugar is also deceptive because it is found in large quantities in items we don’t really think are sugar-packed.

Trans Fat
Foods high in trans fat can be extremely damaging to our bodies. They lower our “good” cholesterol, raise the “bad” cholesterol, cause resistance to insulin and inflammation in our bodies. Sure, we all buy products that say “trans fat” free, but, are unaware that we are consuming foods very high in trans fat at fast food restaurants.

It is a true fact that some of the foods you eat can affect your mood and personalities, making you feel happier. Foods that contain lots of sugar make you feel good and happy, but then the tiredness sets in. Finding the foods that make you feel healthy and happy are much better!

Foods that contain complex carbohydrates like oatmeal, pasta, and sweet potatoes will help you feel full longer and much more satisfied as they take long to digest. Not only that, but the work on the serotonin in your brain. When the serotonin is stimulated, it makes you feel happy. Without carbohydrates, you never stimulate the serotonin and that can leave you feeling down.

Cocoa is an ingredient in chocolate that makes people feel happy because it has phenylethylamine in it and that is a substance that will enhance the mood. Endorphins are produced in the body when consuming cocoa. That in turn makes you feel that happy, good feeling.

Fruit such as oranges and bananas and even orange juices can take away sadness and mood swings and make you feel much better. The oranges have lots of vitamin C and iron which the body needs to feel good and the bananas have a good bit of magnesium which is great for combating bad moods. Both oranges and bananas also stimulate the serotonin to make you feel happy.

When you are trying to get your health under control, there are foods to avoid when eating healthy. Certain foods and destroy all of your plans for that day to eat better and cut out all the artery clogging stuff. Of course these are the foods most associate with tasting good and being pleasurable to eat, but it will cost you in your fitness goals.

White and Milk Chocolate: Although chocolate has been deemed as a superfood, this only applies to dark chocolate. White chocolate is not actually chocolate; it is just made from coco butter. Milk chocolate does contain actual chocolate, but also has a high fat and sugar content.

Fast Food: Fast foods are the enemy of healthy eating habits. Even most fast food salads contain things like cheese and processed meats. If you are trying to live healthier and eat better, it is best to avoid fast foods altogether.

Processed and Fried Foods: These foods are usually full of fat, preservatives and chemicals. Also, most of the foods are devoid of any real nutritional value due to the high temperatures and/or the processing method.

If you can stay away from these foods, you will find it much easier to meet your health and fitness goals. In addition, you should be sure to add plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits to your diet. Then, with a bit of exercise, you should see and feel a difference in no time.

Some of the best foods also turn out to be some of the less expensive foods. If you spend most of your time in the produce section of the supermarket, you may walk out with a couple heavy bags for about the price of one bag of packaged, processed food. Admittedly, the packaged items are more convenient to prepare; you won’t need to clean and scrub them before cooking and eating. The other equally important consideration, however, is that your foods gathered in the produce section are often better for you, too.

Dark green and red vegetables such as kale, chard, collard greens and beets are particularly healthy options, and they are not too expensive. You can also stock up on fruits without spending a fortune. Some of the berries such as blueberries, raspberries and blackberries are filled with anti-oxidants; if you buy them in-season, they can also be quite affordable. The bottom-line is that, even on a budget, you should buy lots of fruits and vegetables.

Another group of foods that are among the best for you are beans and whole grains, such as brown rice. Again, you can be happy to know that these items are relatively inexpensive.

The saying that “you are what you eat” is more than just an old adage. It is literally true, because the foods we consume actually become a part of our body and therefor also our minds. When we eat fresh, wholesome, well grown and well prepared foods, our bodies, our minds and our level of happiness all benefit.

Eating a healthy diet can increase a person’s level of happiness in several ways. When we eat healthy food, we know psychologically that we are doing something good for ourselves. This little mental trick can make us feel better and happier all by itself.

Most everyone knows the feeling of eating some kind of junk food and feeling a bit guilty about it. When we make a choice to eat a nutritious, healthy food, our subconscious minds are registering this information, helping us feel better about ourselves.

Just as important, if not more important, is the effect of healthy food on our body. Our bodies naturally crave wholesome, nutrient dense foods filled with high quality protein, good carbohydrates and necessary minerals and vitamins. When we supply our body with these ingredients of health, our body responds by giving us more energy and improving our mood.
